Monday Edit – 5 Fab Favorites

Monday Edit – 5 Fab Favorites: It’s hard to believe another week has rolled around and announced itself. We’ve had so much fun scouring high and low through the weekly posts and have discovered a few ensembles that we know you’re going to love. First up we have Viva Luxury classically feminine in a monochrome floral structured dress along with Fash Boulevard in a striking black and white pairing – with a polka dot top just for fun. We adore Peace Love Shea for allowing us to experience a seemingly endless summer as she styled a stunning white bikini and were over the moon excited to catch a glimpse of what will be a much watched maternity wardrobe for Cupcakes and Cashmere (congratulations Emily!). Last but not least, we commended Walk in Wonderland for an everyday look that has definite street appeal. We hope you enjoy browsing on this gorgeous Monday morning – happy start to the week! x

Beauty – Statement Nails

Beauty – Statement Nails: A statement manicure makes a style statement in the most subtle of ways.  The perfect addition to a holiday ensemble – think 4th of July or Halloween – something cute and playful without being kitsch.  We simply adore the idea of painting the nail your engagement ring sits under in a sparkly glittery polish and leaving the remainder of your nails in a solid, bold color.  It is a chance to get creative and have a play with different colors and patterns and see what combinations you can come up with.  We’ve spotted a few delightfully playful manicures to share…

The Patterned Top

The Patterned Top: Wearing a patterned top is a simple way to inject a little color and print into your wardrobe and can be particularly effective when teamed with a basic bottom.  Try teaming a vibrant pattern with a pair of your favorite boyfriend jeans, a single color a-line midi or a basic pencil skirt for a contrasting combination that will be sure to have heads turning.  We are particularly fond of a printed peplum top and have no reservations when it comes to brightness or color – the brighter the better! We’ve been scouring high and low and discovered these printed numbers we would love to have hanging in our wardrobe…

Color Me – Camo

Color Me – Camo: When you’re feeling a little grungy but want to maintain a chic look, a little camouflage is all you need. We love the contrast of a camo jacket paired with a feminine dress, but can also appreciate a slightly edgier look when a pair of army greens are teamed with motorcycle boots and a black tank. Throwing a camouflage jacket over your shoulders can change the entire look of your ensemble in an instant with an injection of grunge-meets-glam style. We’ve rounded up a few of our favorite camouflage beauties for you to peek at…

Glam Girl – Amanda Sanchez

We are so very glad to welcome back Amanda Sanchez from the delightfully stylish blog Little Miss Fearless to share a few more insights into the world of blogging and her own personal style.  We adore Amanda’s approach to fashion and always look forward to browsing the looks she styles each week! Don’t forget to shop the fabulous items Amanda has listed in her closet and read on to discover her style inspiration, her advice to aspiring bloggers and her tips for building a workable wardrobe…
Amanda Sanchez - Little Miss Fearless Interview - Bloggers Closet

Tell us, what is it you love most about blogging?
I love the challenge of putting together new looks (whether recycling old clothes or adopting new trends) and sharing them with my fellow fashion enthusiasts. It’s always fun to connect with other bloggers who share the same hobby, but with a different point of view. Like most bloggers, I love the creative outlet that blogging provides and it’s also an outlet for me to face the fear of being judged by my outward appearance. That’s why connecting with readers is so rewarding. It makes me feel like my personality (who I really am) is shining through.

How would you describe your style in three words?
Casual, classic and colourful.

Amanda Sanchez - Little Miss Fearless Interview - Bloggers Closet

Where do you draw your fashion inspiration from?
I can find inspiration in just about anything, including the imperfect things in life. I see myself as imperfect, so when I find other women who confidently embrace their flaws, this inspires me to enjoy being me (flaws and all). Because my style is very colorful, I often get ideas for print and pattern pairings from kids’ clothing lines (Crew Cuts is my fave). I also love to browse Pinterest, brand catalogues and beauty/fashion magazines. A few of my fashion icons include Zoe Saldana, Olivia Palermo and Jenna Lyons.

Do you have one wardrobe item you couldn’t live without?
Besides my supportive husband, distressed jeans and my go-to flats, I can’t live without my Mac lipsticks in ‘Crème Cup’ or ‘Angel’ – I wear both like a chapstick every single day. And if we’re including accessories, my Fitbit is my latest addiction (can’t wait to get the new Tory Burch bands!).

Mixing colors, patterns and prints can be tricky – what are your tips for making it all work?
I always look for balance when mixing prints and patterns. Balance in the colors typically means including a neutral (yes, even if it’s leopard!). Stripes are my no-fail option when trying a new pattern/print pairing because it’s easy to balance shapes (florals, polka dots, etc.) with lines. I’ve gotten a little tired of gingham lately because I think it’s overused in the fashion blogosphere, but there’s definitely an art to not overdoing it, whatever the combination is. That said, when I’m going for a bold look and trying something new, I have to put my courage into overdrive and just go for it.

What is the most memorable fashion purchase you have made?
This is a tough one. I love when I make a purchase and the item becomes a wardrobe staple. Not only will I get my money’s worth, but I feel great every time I wear that item. I especially love if the item is unique. I typically find my most unique (and most memorable) tops from Anthropologie. But my last most memorable purchase was the Tory Burch ‘Plaque Satchel’ I scored at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I feel like royalty when I carry that bag and I didn’t even pay full price for it!

Amanda Sanchez - Little Miss Fearless Interview - Bloggers Closet

For someone starting to build their wardrobe, what are three must-have items you would suggest to invest in?
1. A great-fitting pair of distressed denim (whether skinny or boyfriend jeans).
2. A bright lipstick (I wear St. Germain by Mac on the regular. It’s the right amount of bright pink for me, but also compliments my skin tone.).
3. A neutral (black or brown), genuine leather handbag (it doesn’t have to be designer, but I highly recommend investing in a Michael Kors, Tory Burch or Madewell bag–you’ll carry it for a long time before it ever goes out of style!).
4. Bonus item–anything leopard! :)

If you could go on a vacation tomorrow, where would you go?
Maui. No question about it. I was fortunate enough to live in Maui a few years ago and I can’t get enough of it. Every time we plan a vacation, I feel like I should try something new, but my heart will always be in Maui.

Amanda Sanchez - Little Miss Fearless Interview - Bloggers Closet

What would be your advice to an aspiring fashion blogger?
Learn from your fellow fashion bloggers, but don’t pay too much attention to them. You have to be yourself to be different. It’s okay to adopt trends even if followers think you’re copying other bloggers. Just don’t get caught up in comparing yourself (your body, your style or your income) to others. Most of all, don’t be afraid to TRY.

Just for fun, if there was a movie to be made about your life, which celebrity would you want to play you?
Probably someone spunky like Cameron Diaz. I can’t call her my doppelganger, but I love her style and free-spirited personality. And she’s super fit…something I’ll continue to strive for until I die. ;)

Monday Edit – 5 Fab Favorites: Another week has flown by and we have again been blown away by the gorgeous fashion showcased! Damsel in Dior was the picture of Summer-in-the-city chic with her light and airy dress while Kenza rocked a classic striped tshirt dress pairing it with chunky black heels and an oversized Celine bag. We could not go past Song of Style with her very tropical, pineapple printed number for making us feel as though we were on vacation and adore Hello Fashion in a demure shift dress in the perfect shade of pink. Queen of Jet Lags gave us an ensemble that screams Parisian style – which, let’s face it, is the ultimate in casual cool. We hope you enjoy browsing as much as we enjoyed selecting…

Tell us, what is it you love most about blogging?
I love all the people I get to connect with! I have made some great friends through blogging, like Bloggers Closet founder, Lauren. And I love talking with my readers via email. When I get an email form someone who reads my blog, it makes my day.

How would you describe your style in three words?
Polished, Relaxed, and Classic

Where do you draw your fashion inspiration from?
I get fashion inspiration from everywhere. I read blogs & magazines, search Pinterest, and people watch when I’m running errands. I even get inspired by color combos I see in nature or home decor.

 photo Kacie3EDITED_zps7efd01ee.jpg

Do you have one wardrobe item you couldn’t live without?
My dark wash skinny jeans. I love them! If I could wear them every second of every day, I would. Unfortunately, they need to be washed every once in a while so I can’t wear them 24/7.

Mixing colors, patterns and prints can be tricky – what are your tips for making it all work?
The best tip I have for mixing patterns and prints is to stick to the same color pallet. Stripes look amazing with just about every print out there so they are always my go-to. When print mixing, make sure one print is smaller than the other. If both prints are big and bold, they will compete with each other for attention.

What is the most memorable fashion purchase you have made?
I bought an amazing pair of real leather cognac boots and have worn them each winter for the last 5 years and they are still in great shape. The best part is that I scored them on major sale at Marshalls for only $65!

For someone starting to build their wardrobe, what are three must-have items you would suggest to invest in?
A nice white blouse, a great pair of dark wash jeans, and a black moto jacket. Those are the three pieces I can’t live without. I’ve invested in all three and it has paid off.

If you could go on a vacation tomorrow, where would you go?
I would go wherever I can swim with a manatee. They are my favorite animal and it has always been my dream to swim with one. I’d also love to go to the Maldive Islands, Scotland, New Zealand, Hawaii, and the Carolina’s.

 photo Kacie4EDITED_zpsbafa17cd.jpg

What would be your advice to an aspiring fashion blogger?
My advice is to be yourself. You readers want to see the real you so give them that. Don’t compare yourself to other bloggers because that will only stress you out and bring you down. Trust me, I’ve been there. Enjoy the blogging world and you will be happy.

Just for fun, if there was a movie to be made about your life, which celebrity would you want to play you?
I would want Emma Stone to play me. I’ve recently decided she’s my favorite celebrity and I just love her! She’s seems so down-to-earth and funny. She’s so gorgeous. Plus, she can beat Jimmy Fallon in a lip syncing contest with her amazing rapping skills. A girl after my own heart.
