Tell us, what is it you love most about blogging?
Having a creative outlet is one of the best things about blogging. I have also met so many amazing women across the country that have truly become some of my closest friends. The blogging community has been so inspirational and a great support system of women lifting one another up.

How would you describe your style in three words?
Eclectic
Affordable
Comfortable

Where do you draw your fashion inspiration from?
I get most of my inspiration from magazines, blogs and Pinterest. But, honestly, I really just try to stay true to myself and what I feel most comfortable in.

Do you have one wardrobe item you couldn’t live without?
Three items I couldn’t live with out are my distressed denim, cut off shorts and flip flops. All are simple pieces, but ones I wear on constant rotation.

Mixing colors, patterns and prints can be tricky – what are your tips for making it all work?
My tip is that that really aren’t any rules to mixing colors and prints. As long as you feel confident in what you’re wearing, you can really pull anything off. I tend to stick with stripes, dots and florals when mixing. That is just my preference.

What is the most memorable fashion purchase you have made?
Because I am a bargain shopper and tend to stick with more affordable pieces, I really don’t have a certain moment or item that stands out. My closet and wardrobe are pretty basic.

For someone starting to build their wardrobe, what are three must-have items you would suggest to invest in?
Solid tops
A favorite pair of denim
Basic blazer

If you could go on a vacation tomorrow, where would you go?
Turks & Caicos

What would be your advice to an aspiring fashion blogger?
It takes time to grow and requires work and dedication. It’s also easy to follow the masses and lose your own style identity. Stay true to yourself and your style preferences. Every trend/style isn’t made for everyone.

Just for fun, if there was a movie to be made about your life, which celebrity would you want to play you?
Sarah Michelle Gellar

How To – Mixing Prints

How To – Mixing Prints: Long gone are the days where mixing patterns was a big ‘no-no’. These days, when it comes to mixing prints, the rulebook is out the window. Try playing with combinations you wouldn’t usually see together. Checks and stripes, floral and leopard – in the clash of the patterns, often the most contrasting arrangements are the ones that make the biggest style statement. How to get the look in just three steps? We investigate…

{Three steps to Mixed-Print-Style}

1. Start with a classic stripe – either navy and white or black and white would work well
2. Search your wardrobe and select a contrasting pattern – a bright floral, an aztec print or a polka dot
3. If you’re feeling adventurous, pair with leopard print shoes, or a statement clutch to really make an impression

Monday Edit – 5 Fab Favorites

Monday Edit – 5 Fab Favorites: What a wonderful week of fashion! We had lots of fun searching high and low for our pick-of-the-week choices, and we have to admit it was a little difficult to narrow it down to just five! We couldn’t go past Seams for a Desire in her back-to-basics ensemble and the epitome of casual chic or Fash Boulevard for her pastel-meets-citrus combination that had us swooning. Viva luxury, as always, made a bold statement in a fiery red number whilst Stephanie Sterjovski styled a citron midi perfectly with pops of cobalt blue. Meanwhile, Song of Style reminded us that sometimes less is more with a simple, pared back outfit. Tell us, which look would you most like to replicate?

Beauty – Cayenne Lips

Beauty – Cayenne Lips: We love an orange shaded lip any day of the week.  Slightly more subtle than red, but equally able to make a statement, a cayenne hued lipstick is just as suitable for daytime as it is when darkness falls.  An lighter, orangey shade is perfect for the warmer months, while a darker red-tinged hue works well when the days are cooler. We’ve rounded up a few of our favorite shades for you to take a peek at…

Glam Girl: Katie Manwaring

We’re very excited to be introducing 23-year-old Katie Manwaring from Katie’s Bliss as our Glam Girl today! Katie has a gorgeous, colorful style which she shares with her readers, along with musings on life in New York.  We’ve loved getting to know Katie a little better and we’re sure you will too!  Read  on to discover Katie’s style secrets, her motivation to start blogging and her best beauty tip…

Katie Manwaring - Katie's Bliss

What motivated you to start your blog?
While attending college in rural North Carolina I found that I needed a creative outlet and Katie’s Bliss was born!

How does the city you live in inspire your day-to-day fashion?
My style has definitely evolved since moving to New York City! Now when I purchase a new pair of shoes comfort is a must since I do so much walking! I’m also much more open to taking fashion risks! NYC is a very fashion-forward city where anything goes. I could literally wear anything I wanted out my door and no one would blink an eye.

Who are your style icons?
I love Olivia Palermo, Blake Lively and Miranda Kerr.

 photo katie4EDITED_zpsa9927707.jpg

Name one piece every woman should have in her wardrobe and why?
A great quality handbag that you’ll use for years to come.

What items do you always carry in your handbag?
My wallet, keys, iPhone, a small umbrella, altoids, sunglasses and lots of lipstick and lipgloss!

Katie Manwaring - Katie's Bliss

What is the best beauty trick you’ve ever learned?
Not to wash my hair too often. I know it can sound gross, but since my hair is color-treated and prone to dryness I’ve found that washing it less and keeping heat styling at a minimum is the best way to keep it healthy.

Tell us…what is something not many people know about you?
I’m a reality TV addict!

What are your favourite prints or colors to mix? Do you have any tips?
I have a few favorite color combos that I love to mix – orange/navy, pink/navy, black/white. My best tip would be to not over-do pattern and print mixing. If you’re wearing a striped top and floral bottoms keep the rest of your look neutral.

Katie Manwaring - Katie's Bliss

When you need a little pick-me-up, how do you add sparkle to your life and feel good?
I love a good pedicure or an iced coffee!

How do you start your day? Do you have a morning routine?
I always start my day by answering a few blog emails, scheduling social media updates and finalizing my post for the day. From there I got ready for work and head out the door!

The Cross-Body Bag: We’re calling it the must-have bag of the season and we think you’ll agree!  A cross-body bag is a practical choice of handbag – comfortable to wear, just compact enough and an added pop of color when required.  We adore this type of bag in classic black but also love making a statement in something bright and bold.  In fact, we’d quite like to have one in every color so we could match the bag to our mood on any given day!  We’re sure you’ve been noticing these bags all over, so we’ve chosen just a few of our favorites to share…
