What motivated you to start your blog?
My blog started as a creative outlet during my final year of graduate school to explore and develop my personal style and connect with others who share the same passion for style and fashion.

How does the city you live in inspire your day-to-day fashion?
I think the style in Minneapolis is so very eclectic, which is also a word I would use to describe my style, and I’m not sure how much it inspires my day to day fashion. My day to day fashion, overall is influence by the weather, how I am feeling and what my daily activity consist of at any given day.

Who are your style icons?
I have a couple that include Eva Mendes, she exudes major confidence. I also admire Zoe Saldana’s style. So effortless.

 photo TSO1EDITED_zps95858990.png

Name one piece every woman should have in her wardrobe and why?
A statement bag. A bag that can be worn for seasons and years to come. Preferably in a neutral color that goes with everything.

What items do you always carry in your handbag?
I tend to carry large handbags, so at any moment, you can find multiple lipsticks, hand sanitizers, face powder for touch ups on the go, gum and a variety of things.

 photo TSO3EDITED_zpsfed5e624.jpg

What is the best beauty trick you’ve every learned?
I recently learned this beauty trick at Lucky Fabb NY, and its when applying face lotion, its best to use finger tips and massage into skin, because hands tend to absorbs the whole product. Another great tip is to use as little make up as possible, and still achieve your best look. A little goes a long way.

Tell us…what is something not many people know about you?
I am slightly afraid of flying, but you wouldn’t know by how much I love to travel and explore new cities and favorites alike.

What are your favorite prints or colors to mix? Do you have any tips?
I just got into mixing prints, and my favorite to mix is florals, because they are perfect pick me up for winter weather and obviously perfect for spring and summer. I recently got into mixing metals, who says silver and gold don’t mesh well?

When you need a little pick-me-up, how do you add sparkle to your life and feel good?
When I need a little pick me up, I head to the nail salon and get a manicure and buying fresh flowers for my apartment adds a little sparkle to my life.

How do you start your day? Do you have a morning routine?
I start my day by giving myself a few minutes in bed to reflect and read a daily devotional. When I am up and out of bed getting ready, I listen to some of my favorite songs on YouTube inspire me. My favorite right now is “Help Me Find It” by Sidewalk Prophets.

What motivated you to start your blog?
I began Living In Color Print about 2 years ago after working backstage during Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week one season. I was just interning at a PR company at the time, but was so inspired by the influx of the ‘fashion blogger’ on the digital space. Shortly thereafter I launched LICP; best decision ever! The site, which is now my full-time career, has brought me so much joy and so many incredible opportunities that I feel blessed to have experienced.

How does the city you live in inspire your day-to-day fashion?
Miami, and South Florida in general, is such a warm (practically tropical) region which encourages me to dress in brightly clad attire year round! Which I, of course, love.

 photo LIC5EDITED_zpsc80e6fdd.jpg
Who are your style icons?
Blake Lively and Olivia Palermo are my two modern day icons – both women have a fun/vibrant style where they’re not afraid to be a little daring and try new things, yet they also stick with classic silhouettes and impeccable tailoring (the true key to any great look).

Name one piece every woman should have in her closet and why?
A classic cut Black Boyfriend Blazer, hands down. I’ve gotten SO much use out of mine over the years. Whether it’s dressing appropriately for the workplace, happy hour with the girls, date night or even out on the torn over a sassy little mini dress – it’s such a versatile piece.

What items do you always carry in your handbag?
Soft Lips chapstick, lipstick (always a different shade to mix it up), headphones, a bandaid, blonde bobbie pens, and of course…my iPhone – oh what would we do without technology these days?!

 photo LIC4EDITED_zps6efd653d.jpg
What is the best beauty trick you’ve ever learned?
I’m actually not a huge beauty expect (certainly don’t claim to be!) so I rely a lot on makeup artists and YouTuber’s to teach me the latest and greatest tips and tricks. I think the best thing I ever learned was a few year’s back from an eye brow expert (cannot remember her name for the life of me) who taunt me the importance of a well shaped/groomed brow. Life changing I tell you.

Tell us… what is something not many people know about you?
I clap my hands like a penguin when I get reallyyyy excited.

What are your favorite prints or colors to mix? Do you have any tips?
Sticking to my blog’s mantra ‘Live Colorfully’, mixing and matching prints, patterns, and colors it was I do! Fashion is about having fun and experimenting, so why not! I love polka dots + stripes, florals + stripes, neon on neon, etc. Although lately, I’ve really been loving mixing textures together into one ensemble: chiffon, leather, faux fur, beading – you name it.

 photo LIC2EDITED_zps957e3310.jpg
When you need a little pick-me-up, how do you add sparkle to your life and feel good?
Definitely fresh flowers (I’ve always been a sucker for flowers), and good quality time with the girls (brunch or happy hour does it every time for me).

How do you start your day? Do you have a morning routine?
Working from home sometimes it’s a bit tough for me to have a ‘normal’ routine. There are days where I wake up and decide to work from my bed the entire day, or mornings where I have to be at a client meeting or on a call. Regardless of what I have planned, I 100% always have to have breakfast each morning – I swear, I wake up hungry everyday!

Glam Girl: Kacie

We’re excited to introduce to you 24-year-old Kacie Ellis from Sacramento, California.  Kacie writes the blog Kacie’s Closet which showcases her quintessential Californian style.  You can shop Kacie’s closet here, or read on to hear more about her style inspiration, her introduction into the blogging world and her favourite style tips…

 photo KacieUSE4_zps8bd5f6cb.jpg

What motivated you to start your blog?
I used to own an online clothing store and was looking for new ways to advertise. That’s how I discovered the blogging world. After following a few fashion blogs, I thought it looked like a lot of fun and would be a great way to showcase some of the items from my store. Since then, I have decided to focus solely on my blog and close my store. I have loved every minute of blogging and look forward to all that blogging has to bring in the future.

How does the city you live in inspire your day-to-day fashion?
Being a California girl, I think I have the California casual style. I grew up in a small country town and prefer jeans to dresses any day. Since moving closer to the city, I think my style has gotten away from the country look and is a little more city-ish.

Who are your style icons?
My top style icons who always look amazing are Julianne Hough (she’s my favorite at the moment), Emma Stone, Jessica Alba, and Olivia Palermo.

 photo KacieUSE3_zps85abf41f.jpg

Name one piece every woman should have in her closet and why?
A black leather moto jacket. It makes any outfit look instantly cool and chic. You can wear it with jeans or over dresses and skirts. Plus, it will be in style for years to come.

What items do you always carry in your handbag?
My wallet and business cards are the essentials along with pepper spray and an emergency kit (my sister’s job is in emergency preparedness so she makes sure I’m prepared). You will also always find my favorite lip color, Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey.

 photo Kacie1EDIT_zpsfe694a0e.jpg

What is the best beauty trick you’ve ever learned?
Coconut oil! I put in in my hair from root to tip once a week. I leave it in for a few hours and then wash my hair like normal. It keeps my hair soft and prevents it from getting heat damage. You can also use coconut oil as an eye makeup remover, as face moisturizer, or as body lotion. Another favorite trick is using corn starch to set me makeup.

Tell us… what is something not many people know about you?
Not many people know that I have a lot of foot problems. I’m in a foot brace the majority of the time and my feet are always in pain. I’ll eventually have to have surgery but I’m not going to let any of that slow me down.

 photo Kacie2-EDIT_zps955da634.jpg

What are your favorite prints or colors to mix? Do you have any tips?
I have really been in to neutrals lately. I love mixing different neutral shades and colors. I also love to mix stripes, leopard, and plaid.

When you need a little pick-me-up, how do you add sparkle to your life and feel good?
I turn on music and dance. I sing along and pretend I’m actually a good singer.

What has been your biggest ‘pinch-me’ blogging moment?
For me, just about every moment is blogging has been a ‘pinch-me’ exciting moment. Whether it’s a company I get a chance to work with, a feature in a magazine, collaborating with other bloggers, or receiving emails from readers, I get so happy that this is what I get to do every day. Every time I get a new email regarding my blog, I call my mom and sister to tell them about it because I’m so excited.

What motivated you to start your blog?
I wanted a place that would allow me to be creative, share stories from my life, and document all of the little things that I knew I would someday forget if never written down. As an added bonus I wanted a hobby that could eventually lead to greater opportunities and a possible income. Blogging seemed to fit all of those things!

What has been your best moment of blogging so far?
I have a few favorite blogging moments! The first one would be when I was able to speak at Elevate conference in California last year! I always said I would never do that, and then what happened..I did it. My second favorite was when I was filmed for the taping of American Blogger (a documentary). Never did I think I would have a camera following me and my life around for a day, now it turns out I would love to be a reality TV star. A girl can dream right?

I am a pretty simple girl when it comes to fashion. Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Alba and Carrie Underwood all top my list!

What items do you always carry in your handbag?
Lip gloss, a mirror, and my cell phone.

Always use eye primer before applying eye shadow. It works wonders for keeping it on all day!

My elbows are double jointed which freaks a lot of people out. It’s just elbows going in the opposite direction so I don’t get the freaking out part?

Name one go-to piece in your closet and why?
Boyfriend jeans-they can be cute, casual, or dressed up. I never feel like you can go wrong with a great pair of boyfriend jeans, a tee, and a cute pair of heels or wedges.

Glam Girl: Lacey

We’re very excited to introduce another one of our fabulous closet owners, 23-year-old Lacey Orr from Sunny + Turquoise.  Lacey hails from Chicago, Illinois and her approach to fashion is classic and fun with just enough added sparkle. You can shop her closet here or read on to discover what inspires Lacey, her style icons and her favorite beauty tips…

 photo USE3_zps880dd058.jpg

What motivated you to start your blog?
The inspiration was my closet, my favorite room. I realized I had all of these pieces of clothing, jewelry, and accessories and had nothing to show for it. I decided to start taking pictures and documenting my outfits, hoping it could give others inspiration in their own daily wardrobe. I think it will be fun to look back in a few years and see how my style has evolved and changed!

How does the city you live in inspire your day-to-day fashion?
Because Chicago can be freezing and negative temperatures one minute and warm and sunny the next, I get to layer fun pieces more than my friends scattered throughout the consistently warmer states. Chunky cable knit sweaters, fur vests, heavier boots, and flannels are some of my favorite pieces to wear around the Chicagoland.

I would say Chicago is a place filled with individuals who are constantly on the go and need to be dressed in a style that will take them from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., which ultimately sums up my outlook for getting dressed each morning.

Who are your style icons?
I have always loved Rachel Bilson’s style. She has such a great mix of grungy-chic and always pulls her outfits together with the most unique pieces all while looking so effortless.

USE1

Name one piece every woman should have in her closet and why?
I believe that one staple piece that everyone needs and can’t go wrong with is a perfect fitting pair of black skinny jeans. They are easily my go-to piece to dress up with a pair of heels and fancy top, or dress down with flats, flip-flops, a pair of boots and a sweater.

Every woman should have a pair of great black skinnies simply because they instantly make you slimmer and suck you in! Who doesn’t want that?

What items do you always carry in your handbag?
Besides the basic wallet, keys, and a ridiculous number of pens, I always carry a Tide To Go Pen because I am ALWAYS spilling things on me! I have a monogrammed business card holder for my job, lipsticks and glosses, mini deodorant, tweezers, hand lotion, kleenex, a mini roller ball perfume, and extra hair ties and bobby pins. I cram all of the little items into a small makeup bag to stay organized.

What is the best beauty trick you’ve ever learned?
Filling in my eyebrows! I use to think I had decent eyebrows since they were relatively thick, on the darker side and had a shape that I was happy with. On a whim, I grabbed an expensive eyebrow pencil, shaped and filled them in more, and my life has never been the same.

If I only had to do one thing to my face before leaving the house, hands down it would be this quick and easy trick. I think it’s incredible how much filling in your eyebrows defines and shapes your face while completely enhancing your look!

 photo USE5_zps0637b828.jpg

Tell us… what is something not many people know about you?

People are always surprised to know that I grew up hunting! I don’t get to do it as much anymore since I moved to the suburbs, but I do own a gun and enjoy going with my dad when I can!

What are your favorite prints or colors to mix? Do you have any tips?
My favorite print of the moment is easily leopard. I recently purchased a medium length faux fur leopard coat with a hood from Forever21 and I’m slightly obsessed with it. Leopard shoes, scarfs, and sweaters have stolen my heart lately, but I try to space out when I wear them so I don’t look like a walking animal all of the time.

 photo USE4_zps57ef2dc7.jpg

When you need a little pick-me-up, how do you add sparkle to your life and feel good?
I do a number of things depending on why I need a little pick-me-up. A few things that lift me up are giving myself a fresh manicure, organizing my closet (I see things I have forgotten about and it then feels like I just went shopping! Also, clean spaces make me ridiculously happy), doing an at-home spa day, and pulling myself together with hair, makeup, outfit and some jewelry to meet up with a girlfriend or even just to run a few errands.

How do you start your day? Do you have a morning routine?
I always try to prolong getting out of bed by checking social media and inevitably dropping my phone on my face. On the weekdays, I start off with a warm shower and then put on a country music Pandora station while I do my makeup and hair. I never leave myself enough time to not be in a rush, so while I’m showering, I’m running though my closet in my head pulling an outfit together. I finish it off by rushing out the door with a banana and granola bar for the car ride. Unfortunately not a glamorous routine, but I want every last second of sleep I can get!

Glam Girl: Natalia

We are excited to introduce 30 year old Natalia Simmons, a Southern Californian girl who is currently living in Challans, France with her husband and two sons.  Natalia’s blog, Ma Nouvelle Mode which translates to My New Style, delivers a daily dose of fashion inspiration, beauty tips and travel destinations.  Read on to discover more about what inspires Natalia, her favourite beauty tips and how living abroad has changed the way she views fashion…

 photo MaNouvelleMode3EDITED_zps7ff9d4c1.jpg

What motivated you to start your blog?
I had two kids and they had been sick on and off for a month. I felt like I hadn’t left the house in forever and couldn’t remember the last time I had put makeup on or done my hair. I had seen blogs around the internet and knew I wanted to do it. A way to motivate myself to get ready & care about what I looked like. To look good for myself and my husband and feel good about myself. To find myself in a way.

How does the city you live in inspire your day-to-day fashion?
I live in France so I love seeing European fashion trends, specially before they hit America. Paris is obviously always fashionable and it’s so fun to be so close. French women have a certain class about them, an effortless chic that just resonates. It might be more of an attitude than fashion or just a very beautiful blend. Either way, I love it.

Who are your style icons?
SJP or should I say Carrie Bradshaw. I honestly wasn’t a huge Sex in the City fan when it was on, but love the way Carrie Bradshaw was fearless with fashion. I love that she wore what she wanted when she wanted and there wasn’t a ‘time’ on things. When I am in Southern California and I want to dress up for the day I always get the questions “wow, you look nice, where are you going?” or “You look fancy, hot date?” How about “no hot date, I just felt like dressing up today!!”

 photo MaNouvelleModePic4EDITED_zps3337729a.jpg

Name one piece every woman should have in her closet and why?
I’m gonna go with the obvious here, the basic LBD. You can dress it up and down, casual or fancy. You can rock it for many occasions, you really can’t go wrong. Strolling around town? Through on some flats & a sweater. Night out with the girls? Grab the stilettos and a statement necklace! Work lunch? Throw on a blazer & grab your clutch. It just works.

What items do you always carry in your handbag?
Lotion. I travel a lot on my hands get so dry! It’s always great to have on hand. I also have a little container of bobby pins just in case and my lipsticks. You never know when a girl just needs a hot red lip!

 photo MaNouvelleModePic2EDITED_zps333f8824.jpg

What is the best beauty trick you’ve ever learned?
This is going to sound cliche but confidence is the best beauty trick out there. I have heard over and over again “That red lip looks great on you, but I couldn’t pull it off.” Or “I love that style, but it would’nt work for me.” But why? Why not you? There are no rules, you can rock whatever you want! And when you throw on that bright red lipstick walk around like you own it girl and everyone in the room will believe that you do.

Tell us… what is something not many people know about you?
This is actually a tough one, I’m pretty much an open book! My readers might not know that I speak French but not fluently – just conversationally. I absolutely adore living in France but am excited to eventually settle in America. I would love to be a French teacher when we return but alas I have to master the language first. I don’t know, like I said, I’m an open book!

What are your favorite prints or colors to mix? Do you have any tips?
I’m not very daring in the mixing prints department. I usually match things in some way. I admire women that do and love seeing it pulled off well. My tips would be to not add too many patterns or colors and although they don’t have to match, there are ways to make sure they go well together.

 photo MaNouvelleModePics1EDITED_zps8b616c9d.jpg

When you need a little pick-me-up, how do you add sparkle to your life and feel good?
I would say getting ready is a huge one. I don’t always do a full face of makeup or do my hair but when I’m feeling extra tired and like the bags under my eyes are extra dark, I do my makeup. There’s nothing like passing a mirror and thinking “oh phew, I look decent.” instead of “Yikes! how did I let myself go out like this!!” I also love a good mani/pedi which I desperately need right now!

How do you start your day? Do you have a morning routine?
I love to start with coffee. But I have two kids that most days I am trying to get off to school on time so it usually starts with them. When they’re off, I love to sit, relax and have my cup of coffee. If my husband is around, I love to hang around with him and chat. Sounds super boring writing it out, but we enjoy it!

WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO START YOUR BLOG?
It was actually my friends and family that prompted me to start PPF. They were tired of texting me asking for fashion and beauty advice and they thought it would be a lot easier for them if I had a site that gave them all the information. It began as a great creative outlet and hobby for me to enjoy while my kids were in school. I had no idea it would grow into a full-time business, but I feel very fortunate to be able to do something that I love.

Getting selected for the Almay campaign with Lucky Magazine was an incredible experience. Having the chance to do the photo shoot and film videos was such an amazing moment and one I will always be grateful for.

WHAT IS THE BEST BEAUTY TRICK YOU’VE EVER LEARNED?
How to apply lipstick to make it stay put – start with a layer of concealer, then apply lip liner over your entire lips (and filling in) in the same color as your lipstick, blot once, apply a light dusting of translucent powder. Then apply the lipstick with a lip brush. It will last for HOURS!
