 photo kat3EDITED_zps74d14320.jpg

What motivated you to start your blog?
After graduating from college with a degree in design I started to miss the creative outlet my classes provided. I started my blog as a way to document the things I love and 3 years later it’s my full time job!

How does the city you live in inspire your day-to-day fashion?
I love seeing chic girls in the street and admiring the beautiful store windows around the city. Living in NYC has pushed me to be more fashion forward and take risks!

Who are your style icons?
Jackie Kennedy, my mom, and Miranda Kerr.

 photo kat1EDITED_zps05957901.jpg

Name one piece every woman should have in her wardrobe and why?
It’s hard to name one! Black skinny jeans – because they can dressed up or down. I live in them!

What items do you always carry in your handbag?
Wallet, cellphone, planner, Mac lipgloss in C-Thru, antibacterial stuff for when I take the subway, and Celine sunglasses.

 photo kat2EDITED_zps9375649d.jpg

What is the best beauty trick you’ve ever learned?
Foundation!!! I didn’t start using it until a few months ago – it is life changing. I use Giorgio Armani foundation #6.5.

Tell us…what is something not many people know about you?
I can wiggle my ears! It’s a super random inherited trait from my mom! :)

 photo Kat6EDITED_zps64e02f96.jpg

What are your favourite prints or colors to mix? Do you have any tips?
I love stripes, neutrals, paisley! Stripes + leopard print is a really cute combo right now.

When you need a little pick-me-up, how do you add sparkle to your life and feel good?
Flowers, mani/pedis, a spritz of my favorite perfume… CHOCOLATE!

How do you start your day? Do you have a morning routine?
As soon as I wake up I make myself a green smoothie (coconut water, pineapple, raspberries, spinach, almond butter and flax seed.) Then I head to my desk and start tackling the emails and working on projects.

Glam Girl – Caitlin Lindquist

We are very excited to be introducing Caitlin Lindquist of the ever-beautiful style blog – A Little Dash of Darling. Caitlin is a Utah-turned-Arizonan and delivers a colorful, playful style that is as feminine as it is classic. It’s easy to see why A Little Dash of Darling has become a daily source of inspiration to all those who follow it. It’s no secret that we’ve been obsessed with Caitlin’s fabulous style for a long time now, so we couldn’t be more thrilled to be discovering more about her today…
 photo darling1EDITED_zpscd509b86.jpg

What motivated you to start your blog?
I started my blog in my third year of law school as a much needed creative outlet. I have always had a knack for playing dress up and I decided it was time I try doing what I love as a hobby (and I hoped others would enjoy it too). It took me a long time to build up the courage to finally pull the trigger, but I finally realized there will never be the “perfect time.” You just have to be willing to go for it… and I did.

How does the city you live in inspire your day-to-day fashion?
I recently moved to Arizona with my husband and it has been a big change from the ever-constant San Diego weather that we were used to. In the desert it can go from 120 degrees down to 30 degrees and back up again. As a result, Scottsdale has had a big influence on my day-to-day wear and I have had to learn to be ready for whatever as we explore our new state.

Who are your style icons?
I will always admire Diane Kruger for her edgy picks with feminine flair. She can rock a menswear suit and hat with a sexy bold red lip like no other. I also love watching Olivia Palmero for her fun and flirty frocks. I’d love to steal her closet for a day (er, lifetime).

 photo Darling5EDITED_zps20243924.jpg

Name one piece every woman should have in her closet and why?
I am a huge fan of sneakers. Not only are they comfortable, but they can be a perfect way to dress down an otherwise dressy outfit and they give your ensemble a little does of “cool.” I also believe you cannot go wrong with a good blazer because they are so versatile.

What items do you always carry in your handbag?
I cannot leave home without a chic pair of sunglasses and my YSL lipsticks. They just feel like butter and when I need a little extra oomph to my look it’s a good way to go. Oh, and I kind of sort of cannot go anywhere without a little brush to tame this beast of a hair of mine.

 photo darling2EDITED_zps51aea536.jpg

What is the best beauty trick you’ve ever learned?
I used to get a little eyeliner happy on my bottom lashes. As I have gotten older I have realized that lining only my top lashes with a little subtle cat eye really opens up and brightens my eyes, giving the appearance of bigger eyes. Now I save the sultry bottom-lash liner for sexier occasions.

Tell us… what is something not many people know about you?
Although it may not come across this way because I am pretty goofy and like being silly, I am actually quite shy and have a hard time letting people in on my private life. I mean, I used to be so scared of just ordering a meal from a stranger/waiter at a restaurant… I would have my mom do it for me (aren’t mom’s wonderful for taking such good care of us?!). Thank goodness I grew out of that phase and I am working on opening up more.

 photo darling3EDITED_zps9d9a7e33.jpg

What are your favorite prints or colors to mix? Do you have any tips?
For me, leopard prints have always been a closet staple and a neutral in my book. I love mixing animal prints with stripes and/or dots for a fun geometric contrast. I am also a sucker for pink and pair with anything from red to lime green for a little unexpected pop.

When you need a little pick-me-up, how do you add sparkle to your life and feel good?
Besides a morning salted caramel hot chocolate from Starbucks, I love picking up fresh flowers, getting a manicure or buying a new nail polish or lipstick for a little added slice of happiness. Since we moved to Arizona I also love googling new places to try and exploring our new home… it makes it feel more like, well, home.

How do you start your day? Do you have a morning routine?
The first thing I do in the morning is check my phone (which is a habit I REALLY need to break). I then try to get my butt to the gym for some feel-good endorphins or do some form of exercise like running, hiking, biking or tennis. In an ideal world I then check my emails (which, let’s be honest… rarely happens). Then the rest of my day falls in line.

Glam Girl: Cassidy

Please meet 28-year-old Cassidy June, from O My Darlings (you can follow her on Instagram) who we are delighted to feature as our Glam Girl today.  Cassidy has a beautifully feminine style which is interspersed with simple, classic items and she holds the firm belief that it is always time for sequins and polka dots.  Whatever she wears, she manages to look completely comfortable and completely glam all at once – which is what we love most about her!  Cassidy has a very personal take on what style means and we couldn’t be happier that she is sharing some of her insights with us today…

Glam Girl - Cassidy - Oh My Darlings

What motivated you to start your blog?
My blog is really just a personal journal with pictures and videos. I started it because I wanted a way to capture stories and adventures with our daughter, something I could show her one day. Once in awhile I’ll do a style or fashion related post, I think it’ll be funny to look back one day and see what I was into. I imagine one day Rylie will be scrolling through and I’ll hear her go “EW mom, I can’t BELIEVE you thought that was cool.”

Who are your style icons?
I don’t really follow a lot of “celebrities” for their style. I think the most stylish people out there are bloggers, which is why I love the idea of this site. The girls that I find the most stylish are also moms, because I think that once you become a mom your style totally transforms, and I find myself able to relate to them. Taylor Sterling (a good friend), Joy Cho, Naomi Davis…these gorgeous mamas that share little bits of their world with us via blogging are total icons in my mind.

Glam Girl - Cassidy - Oh My Darlings

What items do you always carry in your handbag?
Honestly, I just looked and this is what I found: baby wipes, lip gloss, my wallet, my cell phone, crayons, HONEST hand sanitizer, and a miniature disco ball (really).

What is the best beauty trick you’ve ever learned?
How to do a perfect ballerina bun with a sock! I swear, it’s the perfect way to put up “not so clean” hair, and still have people think you spent hours getting ready! Also, I warm up my eyelash curler A LITTLE with a blowdryer (not hot, just warm, please do not burn off your eyelashes!) and it keeps my eyelashes curled all day.

Glam Girl - Cassidy - Oh My Darlings

Tell us… what is something not many people know about you?
I’m a full time PhD student, and commute 2 hours to school and 2 hours back twice a week. I actually enjoy the commute, it’s the only time I get to pleasure read (thank goodness for audio books!).

What are your favorite prints or colors to mix? Do you have any tips?
I am so obsessed with metallics (gold, silver, champagne). Sometimes I wonder if I go a little overboard with them, but then I tell myself “Nahhh! You can never have too much gold!” I love mixing polka dots with anything, in my mind they are a neutral :) I think that fashion is so personal, and that we should allow ourselves to wear what we love. For instance, I love sequins, but I also love comfy tee’s. I’d wear a comfy tee with sequin pants or a sequin skirt any day of the week, why not?!

Glam Girl - Cassidy - Oh My Darlings

When you need a little pick-me-up, how do you add sparkle to your life and feel good?
I love having fresh flowers in our home, polish on my nails (which definitely means owning the polish since manicure are rare and I’ll need to touch it up), glitter glue projects with my daughter, and wearing sequins indoors on a rainy day. I also love to dance, in our kitchen with our daughter, with socks on so we can slide around. Those are the things that make me smile.

How do you start your day? Do you have a morning routine?
I start my day with my daughter, getting her ready and fed. I don’t even usually brush my teeth or wash my face until she is settled in with a project or game. I try to do my hair and add a little gloss on my days that I’m at home and not at school, it makes me more energized to get out and explore with her. I’ll be the first to admit though that sometimes she is dressed to the nines and I am still in sweats at our playdates. Those are the days my sock bun comes in handy.

What motivated you to start your blog?
The very fear that I couldn’t do it and be successful at it is what forced me to give fashion blogging a try. I am a firm believer that the things we want most are on the other side of fear and we have to step outside our comfort zone and face our fears to truly be happy with our lives, who we are and to realize our full potential. Little Miss Fearless is about facing my fear to share a budding talent in the most critical and judgmental industry there is: fashion. I don’t claim to be all things to all people, I know I’m not a supermodel or runway designer, but sharing my love for different ways to style and create (and playing dress-up through it all) has been a fun journey and an eye-opening experience. I have learned the importance of self acceptance and overcoming challenges that ultimately always come from the fear to try.

How does the city you live in inspire your day-to-day fashion?
The longer I’ve been blogging, the more aware I am of the styles I see all around me. Salt Lake City (and Utah in general) is a pretty unique place. I’m not even sure I can put a finger on how to describe it, but I feel I am more inspired by those I interact with in my day-to-day life than I am by strangers I may pass on the street or at the mall. I think personality is a key component to personal style that people often overlook. When I feel inspired by someone’s personality, their clothing and style come to life. I work full-time as a PR manager for a digital marketing company so I spend a lot of time in an office, but it’s a casual environment that welcomes different styles beyond your typical corporate dress code. I don’t dress as creatively at work as I do on my blog because I want my professional talents to be noticed before my appearance is (maybe I’m weird that way), but I’m often inspired by other women I work with who exemplify fearlessness in simple things like wearing a bright shade of lipstick or trying a fun hairdo (or my 2014 resolution: walking around in loud heels!). And I love that about where I live/work. I am always sure to find someone who is completely comfortable with who they are and it shows in everything they do. That to me is the best inspiration.

Who are your style icons?
I love love love Zoe Saldana and Blake Lively. They never appear to be trying too hard with their style. I’m often inspired by the unique textures and designs they wear to red-carpet events, but also love their casual, street-style looks as well. When I’m looking for “outside-the-box” inspiration, I turn to Jenna Lyons and Olivia Palermo (SO FAB!). Also, my first discovery in the blogging world was Blair Eadie, so I’ll always have thing for her, too.

 photo Amanda2EDITED_zps335ed291.jpg

Name one piece every woman should have in her closet and why?
What piece shouldn’t we have in our closets?! I think every girl needs a smashin’ good pair of skinny jeans, heels (whatever height works for you) and a white v-neck tissue tee (I recommend J.Crew’s). Sometimes the simplest outfits are the most eye-catching. And who would turn down casual comfort?

What items do you always carry in your handbag?
I always intend to keep my handbag mostly empty, but it seems to accumulate everything by the end of the week. My essentials are a pair of sunglasses, my fave MAC lipstick in “Angel,” my fave Victoria’s Secret lotion “Pure Seduction,” a pen, my wallet and some gum.

What is the best beauty trick you’ve ever learned?
I’m sure I have so much to learn still, but one I’ve been using for a while is heating my eyelash curler with the blowdryer before using it. It makes my lashes stay curled all day.

Tell us… what is something not many people know about you?
Hmm. I am half Norwegian, I played basketball in high school and one year in college (although, I always wished I was a dancer), my favorite TV shows are Seinfeld, Modern Family and Extreme Weightloss, and I always hated science, but I won the state science fair in 7th grade.

 photo Amanda3EDITED_zps469fe5d5.jpg

What are your favorite prints or colors to mix? Do you have any tips?
My favorites are always changing. Lately, I love mixing leopard with just about anything. But that’s what’s so fun about fashion. The seasons change, the styles change and we’re continually inspired to try new things (something our fears would want us to be afraid of).  My tips for pattern play and color combos are to broaden the inspiration you consume. I find inspiration everywhere, from the people I surround myself with, to favorite catalogs, instagram accounts, pinterest, magazines, even random things like home decor and office buildings. You’ll get out of it what you put into it, so fill your mind with ideas and you’ll definitely surprise yourself.

When you need a little pick-me-up, how do you add sparkle to your life and feel good?
Nothing makes me feel better than working out. (Sometimes I have to remind myself of that because it always sounds so hard.) But honestly, if ever I need a pick-me-up, it’s usually because I’ve started telling myself negative things about how I look or that I’m not capable of facing some kind of challenge. Whether I’m running, lifting weights or attending a TRX class, I always feel better after I’ve physically released negative feelings. I also love the accomplishment I feel after a hard workout. In a simple way, I’m showing myself that I CAN do something that is hard for most people, and then I feel confident I can face any challenge that comes my way. And if it’s a body-image issue, well, we all know the gym is a great place to start for that.

How do you start your day? Do you have a morning routine?
I am NOT a morning person, so my routine is short due to my inability to ever wake up as early as planned (resolving to change that in 2014 with early gym classes). I typically drink a protein shake as soon as I’m out of bed, then wash my face, brush my teeth, do hair/makeup and lastly, get dressed. Nothing too fancy (I wouldn’t leave time for it if I wanted to).
